“It has been my great pleasure to work alongside Inscape at the Older Persons Unit, Royal Hobart Hospital, since they joined in 2015 and to see the difference firsthand that they have made to our ward and its people.

Inscape has brought joy, eased anxieties, reduced isolation, and loneliness to older people at a time when they need it most. It makes my job easier and more satisfying when I can see their engagement, hear their music, and appreciate the art created with our patients. I am a huge fan of their wonderful work, and their care and dedication in helping older Tasmanians.”

Dr Blair Adamczewski, Staff Specialist Geriatrician

“I cannot speak highly enough of the Inscape artists’ commitment and dedication in bringing a sense of happiness and joy to our patients on Acute Older Peoples Unit, who so often miss their loves ones, experience boredom, frustration, and grief due to their prolonged hospital stays. Our vulnerable patients, even those with cognitive and behaviour challenges, look forward to the times with the artists. The role of Inscape in our patients' mental wellbeing has been invaluable and I sincerely believe that many patients in our health system will benefit from the services that Inscape offers.”

Dr Subhranil Das, Staff Specialist Geriatrician

“I have been in hospital now for 4 months and I am in the Inscape program. The artwork is fantastic. I enjoy the visits every week from Jacqui and Claire. Jenny has painted me a picture of my life which is absolutely gorgeous. It shows me for me. Their work is just so good, and I enjoy it.”

Anne, patient at The Royal Hobart Hospital

“It is a joy to go about your work at the RHH and hear the pop up music artists or hear the music and happiness coming from patient’s rooms.

Several of the long-term patients I have seen are so engaged in talking about the Inscape team and the art program, talking through the art on display in their rooms.

Art and music is hugely important to patients when they are away from their home, belongings and loved ones. The Inscape team are so good at finding the exact thing that will work for the patient. A song, a drawing, or just giving the time to listen…….

You all are truly appreciated.”

“I am so grateful to Inscape because it’s the only thing that gets me through the week knowing that I have time for singing or art. It’s the time when I can do things that I love. It is my time for me, and I don’t know where I would be without them.”

Angela, patient at the Royal Hobart Hospital

“Ward 5A (acute older person’s unit) are so lucky to have the Inscape team working with patients on a regular basis.  A hospital can be a stressful, lonely, and challenging place; Inscape play an integral role in providing reassurance, joy, and comfort to patients. The Inscape artists and musicians are fantastic in providing patient centred experiences and the program is cherished by all.”

Jessica Wardle, Senior Occupational Therapist

“Since Inscape’s inception to the Royal Hobart Hospital in 2015, they have touched the lives of many patients, their families, and staff alike. Being admitted to the hospital can be a daunting experience that can have a profound effect on people’s lives forever.

Inscape has and continues to enrich patients’ lives through their art and music programs and enlivened the workspace for staff too. I have experienced firsthand the difference they have made to the patients with a dementia, young and old and especially the great work they do with BPSD patients.

Please continue to refer your patients to this amazing team and donate to their valuable work to continue to make a positive difference to those we care for. We would be lost without them.

Thank you, Inscape, for all your amazing work and support to all you meet.”
